I made my way back to Bear Country for the first time since 2019. Lake Zurich hosted homecoming against Lake Forest in front of special guest, Jack Sanborn. Sanborn, a 2018 graduate, was part of a 2017 squad that finished as state runner-up in 7A.

The hometown Bears played at their best in front of the hometown hero, shutting out the Scouts 43-0. The Bears defense had 5 takeaways, including 3 Danny Van Camp interceptions, and a fumble recovery touchdown by sophomore cornerback Chris Chang on a halfback toss that he caught in mid-air. Sophomore safety Bryce Erkman had 2 of Van Camp's 3 interceptions.

Bears running back Chris Pirrone started the scoring hitting paydirt from 4 yards out on 4th down. Pirrone finished with 9 carries for 52 yards, but left the game in the first half with an injury. Quarterback Lucas Lappin (2/3, 18 yards, 4 carries, 30 yards, 2 TD) added touchdown runs of 13 and 14 yards late in the first half.

Junior running back Alex Pirrone, younger brother of Chris, filled in nicely after Chris left the game. Alex Pirrone had 17 carries for 80 yards, and a touchdown. Senior running back Lincoln Adams had 5 carries for 38 yards.

Danny Van Camp went 5/12 for 39 yards. Scouts running back Graham Garrigan had 10 carries for 40 yards. Receiver Charlie Markee had 3 catches for 17 yards, and running back Marty Hippel had 5 carries for 16 yards.

The Bears (6-1, 4-1 NSC) will travel to Mundelein (4-3, 2-3 NSC) Friday night, and the Scouts (4-3, 3-2 NSC) will travel to Warren (5-2, 5-0 NSC).
