Hawks Dominate Cyclones to Punch a Ticket to 1A Championship

Thursday was the day for the 1A and 2A games for a chance to advance to the State Championships on Saturday. The first 1A semifinal game was between Cornerstone Christian and Gibault Catholic.
In the Supersectionals the Cornerstone Christian Cyclones blewout St. Francis de Sales by 30. It took the Gibault Catholic Hornets a walkoff three pointer by senior Kameron Hanvy, which made it to ESPN's Top 10, to defeat Illini Bluffs 45-44.
The Hawks Cruised to a 70-46 victory over the Cyclones. They led by 10 at halftime, and outscored the Cyclones 41-27 in the second half, including a 9-0 run to start the third quarter. During that run the Hawks got back-to-back three point plays by Hanvy and 6-3 junior Gavin Kesler.
Senior guard Kaden Augustine led the Hawks with 20 points and 4 rebounds. Hanvy had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists. 6-3 junior forward Gavin Kesler had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Cyclones guard Austin Henard led with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. 6-2 forward Jakson Baber had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. 6-2 forward Cade Wolfe had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Gibault (31-7) will play in the 1A Championship game on Saturday against Scales Mound (33-5).
